Carpediem

Or "live the day" if translated roughly from Latin. This is the name of the band I have been enjoying immensely ever since I have been back in Baku over the last few months.

They are four young guys, and if you haven't heard them sing and perform live then you should definitely stop by Room Bar (Terlan Eliyarbeyov 10, walk straight from the cornet of Mexx shop on Torgovaya, its on the same street where Firuza and Port restaurants are) and check them out.

There is music every night of the week. My favorite days though are when they perform acoustic- more mellow and slow than on Fridays and Saturdays when the whole band gets on stage to perform some of the best rock songs. You should see the place on those nights with everyone dancing and singing to the tunes played.

All members of the band are from Turkey, currently living and studying in Baku. They sing in Turkish and English and have diverse and entertaining
repertoire.

You can listen to them on their myspace page as well: http://www.myspace.com/carpetheem and learn a bit more about them here: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=75550011616&ref=mf

I always thought Baku should have a good (rock) music scene, but never quite found it when I was there. Good to hear about these guys!
