While, the atmosphere here in Turkey remains divided between AKP supporters and non- supporters, I wonder how many protests will take the streets of Ankara and Istanbul, now, that YOK (Yuksek Ogretim Kurulu- Higher Education Board) is considering to open two departments of Kurdish language and literature.
This decision was voiced by the President of YOK, Professor Yusuf Ziya Ozcan, who said YOK received two applications from Mardin and Diyarbakir Dicle Universities, requesting Kurdish language and literature departments.
Another Kurdish breeze hit the Turks, when on the same day with Professors' Ozcan decision, Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT), launched the broadcast of Kurdish TRT 6 (Shesh) channel. The channel will be airing, news, movies, cartoons, and Kurdish music.
Will, see where this takes turbulent Turkey over the next few weeks...
